Ultrasound systems use focal imaging techniques to achieve imaging performance far beyond what can be achieved through a single-channel approach. Using an array of receivers, a high-definition image can be built by time shifting, scaling and intelligently summing echo energy.
Digital X-ray imaging sensors are mainly used in the following areas: medicine , dentistry, materials inspection, security applications and research. High-resolution X-ray detectors based on Si-CCDs are used in dental imaging, whereas Large Area Arrays are used in medicine and security applications. Based on thin film transistor arrays, each pixel element contains a selenium or amorphous silicon based photo diode combined with a simple transistor circuit for readout control, converting absorbed X-rays into visible light.
